When I drove up the hill and rounded the bend to where the park finally opens up, I started weeping. I pulled over at the first sandy overlook and sat on the hood of my car and stared. And cried. The pictures don’t even do justice, but I tried my best to capture the violent and precarious beauty.
I had limited time, so I hiked Double Arch, Windows, and the Delicate Arch Upper Viewpoint trails. Easy, short walks in the shadows of giants. The strata moved with haste– the bright blue expanse gave way to signs of rain as I sat inside the double arch. I could see showers miles away. But by the time I had left north window, the wind almost knocked me off the rocks and I was soaked. Driving out of Moab I chased a perfectly formed double rainbow.
